Casa De Folklore

Founded by Alice Munteanu, Casa De Folklore celebrates the rich heritage of Romanian craftsmanship, bringing traditional ceramics and thoughtfully made homewares into contemporary living. Born in Bucharest and raised partly by her grandparents in a small village in eastern Romania, Alice grew up with a deep appreciation for the beauty of everyday rituals, the colours of folk culture and the knowledge passed down through generations. These early experiences continue to shape her approach to design and her belief that the things we live with should hold meaning beyond their function.

At the heart of Casa De Folklore is a close relationship with Romanian artisans who keep these traditions alive. From the distinctive pottery of Horezu to the earthy textures, natural pigments and intricate motifs found across our collections, every piece reflects the skills, stories and individuality of its maker.

Created slowly and shaped by hand, our ceramics celebrate the beauty of the imperfect. Subtle variations in colour, form and finish are part of their character. Little reminders that each object has its own journey and that no two pieces are ever quite alike.

For Alice, preserving traditional craftsmanship is about more than looking to the past. It’s about ensuring these skills continue to be valued, supporting the people who carry them forward and finding thoughtful ways for heritage to live on in modern homes.

Casa De Folklore brings together tradition and contemporary design, heritage and everyday living, the familiar and the unexpected. We believe that the objects we choose to surround ourselves with can tell stories, spark conversations and make even the simplest moments feel special.

Our hope is that every piece becomes part of your own story, collected, cherished and lived with for years to come.
