Isla Fenwick

Isla Fenwick is a studio potter working from a quiet farmhouse in Devon, where the rolling English landscape meets her deep admiration for Japanese ceramic traditions. A student of both British and Japanese forms, Isla blends rustic English stoneware with design principles inspired by wabi-sabi—the beauty of imperfection and simplicity.

Her collections reflect a meditative balance between East and West. Teapots like “Ocean Waves” and “Misty Mountain” draw from Japanese brushwork and natural symbolism, reinterpreted through English clay and local glazes. Each piece is hand-thrown and finished in small batches, often with subtle, layered glazes that evoke mist, sea, and sky.

Influenced by time spent apprenticing with a ceramicist in rural Japan, Isla’s work is quiet, intentional, and deeply connected to nature. She believes that pottery should serve the hands and the spirit, becoming part of daily rituals.
