Thalia Kouris

Born on the sun-drenched island of Rhodes, Thalia Kouris grew up surrounded by the bold shapes and natural textures of the Mediterranean landscape—terracotta rooftops, sun-bleached stone, and the graceful silhouettes of palms swaying in the coastal breeze. Her love of clay began in her grandmother’s garden, shaping small bowls from earth and water as a child.

Thalia formally trained at the Athens School of Fine Arts, but her work is deeply rooted in the rhythms of island life. She draws inspiration from the decorative heritage of ancient Greek pottery, while keeping her forms modern, relaxed, and unpretentious. Her signature pieces—hand-thrown and hand-painted earthenware featuring breezy palm motifs—celebrate the quiet poetry of the everyday table.

Now working from a small studio nestled among olive trees, Thalia produces small batches of ceramics designed to be lived with, loved, and passed on. No two pieces are quite the same, and that’s just how she likes it.
